When you were little did you want to be a hairdresser and a teacher all at once.
One girl did and now she is. She give away a free haircut for kids but on one condition. You have to read to her. She is so lovely. I wonder if she has moved another hairdresser to do the same? There was no words that I found tricky in the article.  I got my info from http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

I feed The Homeless

Imagine if you feed the homeless. Imagine go up to a restaurant and asking for leftovers for the homeless. I would be very scary ,wouldn't it. Well one woman does it all the time. IT all started a couple of years ago when she had the courage to ask a fried chicken restaurant for their unsold food. She is so lovely. I wonder who inspired her? Happy Free Breakfast

A waitress father had been save my fire fighters. She return the favour by doing something really nice. Instead of a bill for breakfast she wrote a thank you note. It said:

Your breakfast is on me today. Thank you for all that you do; for serving others and for running into the place everyone else runs away from. No matter your role, you are courageous, brave and strong... Thank you for being bold and bad ass everyday! Fuelled by fire and driven by courage- what an example you are.

If someone gave me a note like that I would feel on top of the world and so proud of what I do. The firefighter posted it on facebook urging people to go eat there. HE soon found out that the waitress had a GoFundMe page, which she was using to try and raise $17,000 to buy her father a wheelchair accessible van. He posted again and then 1,000 people donated  and she got $50,000 more than her goal.  personally I think this is a awesome thing to do and it is very inspirational. I love the way she did something awesome and he did something nice back. There was no words that I found tricky in the article. I wonder what they have done with the extra money?  I got my info from http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

Floating and Sinking

At school today we are learning about floating and sinking. What we did was put an orange in the water and then put a peeled orange in it. What happen was the the orange with the skin on floated and the peeled orange sank. It happen because of the density of the object and how much volume it has to store air. With the orange with the skin on had more  density and the skin was like an life jacket for the orange. With the orange without the skin on had the same density as the other orange put the water filled up where the air was. Therefore it sank.
I think the unpeeled orange had less density than the water. What do you think? Experimenting with density

My Wonder For the Week

Why do leaves change colour in Autumn?
In Autumn the leaves change colour but why?  This is because in Autumn the days are shorter which means the leaves can not make the chlorophyll which is what makes leaves green. So they turn orange.Image result for autumn leaves

My Wonder For The Week

Why are lemons sour?
If you have already had straight lemon you will know it can be sour. This is because lemons have citric acid in them, which is acid found in lots of fruits and vegetables. We know it is sour because our taste buds gather info about what we ate and tells our brain that it is sweet, salty, bitter, or sour.

Holidays Writing

School Holidays Writing
I tap my feet to the music playing overhead. I pick up the heavy ball for where it was and take a deep breath. I can do this! I picture the ball hitting the pins and knocking them all over. I swing my arm back with the bowling ball gripped tightly in my hand. I feel as if my life depends on me winning even though I am just bowling with my friends and family. I slowly release the ball from my clench hand and it speeds down the bowling alley. I close my eyes and slowly peek through my fingers. It smashes the first pin in the centre and it falls down to the ground and hits another and another till all the pins have fallen down except the last pin. I have done it, I have knocked down the pins. I feel on top of the world. But I still have to knock down the lasted pin. I have a strong gust of determination and thats when I know I can do this. I take a deep breath. I swing my arm back again and it glides along my side. I lean down almost touching my knee on the ground. I let go the ball from my grasped hand and it rapidly rolls down the bowling alley, It turns and is heading for the gutter. Oh dear. I wish I could move the bowling ball so it is in line with the pin. It falls down into the gutter. My smile turns into a frown. But I still feel awesome about my turn and have had fun at bowling in Auckland.

In Marama we have a doc called our  literacy profile and one called my mathematics profile to set and talk about my learning goals for this year. The goals are based on the test that we do to see where my weakness are. So we can achieve my goals and reach the curriculum level by the end of the year.
