Team Goal Refection
This weeks goal was about collaboration. It was to collaborate with our groups achieve shared goals. I think this is great because can keep us all on track. In my group this week we achieved heaps. We have been working on our GE's. Just think about this quote for a second "What we learn with pleasure, we never forget." This is why we have GE’s. GE stands for group endeavor. It is an inquiry project, based on interests and passions, just like what we did at the start of the year with our IE's. The steps of our GE’s are linked to our NPS learning powers. My group is looking at Food Miles. We are starting to research questions. It has been so fun so far and I am very excited to see everybody's projects. In our group, we respect everyone, we work together, set goals and encourage everyone. Good teamwork/bad teamwork Image result for good teamwork

Duolingo
I am learning a new language on a website called Duolingo. Duolingo is the world's most popular way to learn a language. It's 100% free and fun. You can learn many different languages on the website including German, Klingonn, Italian, Ukrainian, Swedish and French. I am learning Spanish. I can speak 14% Spanish so I am doing really well. I play games to learn and work through the different levels. It is starting to get really hard to remember all the words, so I can not imagine what it would be like if I was 100%. I think that it is soo much fun and if you have not got an account already you should defiantly get one. I am using this for school, but you could just do it for fun.

Miniature Gardens
Today we made miniature gardens. The theme of my garden was the home for elephants. I had a two toy elephants, a pool and moss. I started by putting the sand in my pan. Then I put in all my decorations. The pool was the hardest I had to make sure it was the same level as the sand. I put in the moss and it mad everything look pretty.
I love my miniature garden. I am very proud of what I have done today with my garden. I think that the elephants would love to live there. They can have a swim in the water and the baby elephant can hide in the moss. I had to show real creative and resilience when I found things tough but it was all worth it in the end.

The Wellington Cable Cars
“Three tickets please. One adult, two kids.” We were all set for our ride on the cable cars. The lady doing the tickets gave us ours. We then went through the gates. Right in front of us we saw the cable car sitting in the tunnel. It was a bright beautiful red. Although it look as if it had had a lot of use. As we walked closer and closer it looked even more magical. We stepped up and hopped in. The car made us feel comfortable and welcome.
The bell chimed and the ride began. As soon as we came out of the tunnel the bright blue sky welcomed us. The roaring sun shone and it felt like it could light up the whole universe. We went up higher and higher till we could see the whole of Wellington. We sat in silence as we had lost our voices at the state of the view. We were shocked to our cores.
At the top the sun was still shining. You could hear the sound of birds chirping and trees swaying softly. We hopped out of the cable car and we were all sad to have finished the journey. We had had a marvelous time. What a fun trip!

Learning In The Making
I really really enjoyed the learning in the making. I think this year was the best out of the three. I think that this year there was a lot more variety of learning. My favorite workshop I went to was lunch box yummy, where we made two different pastry treats. Following close behind was bouncy ball where I had fun making a big mess. I also was lucky enough to lead two workshops, this was the highlight of my day seeing all of the kids smile when they had completed something.
I have learned some much during this workshop day. I learned that bouncy balls are very hard to make and you need to have the perfect ingredients. I learned that you can have more of a yummy lunch box with some easy steps. I learned that there is a lot of planning and things need to be done before the workshops. I learned that looking after young kids for 50 min can be a handful. And last of all I learned about all the cool/weird jobs there will be in the future from Mark Osborn.
I learned lots of new things and tried new things that I might not have done before. While starting of the new things I felt a bit weirded out especially when we started the bouncy balls, but I soon found out that these new things were very enjoyable. I think that since I try that workshop I got the work with some different people and I really enjoy it. I really think that this year has had a lot of cool things going on and I think that I have no ideas to make it better next time.

Wilson The Whale
Everywhere together, the pod travelled. Moving as one through the ice-cold waters, they began to stalk their prey… But it was one cold day when the pod broke up. They all began to move a part. Earlier that day the pod broke into a fight. The king whale had wanted to go to the find food closer to the land and the pod thought that that was a bad idea. So the king disappeared. Without any direction the pod became lost and angry so the went off by themselves into the humongous ocean. One of the youngest, Wilson had no idea where to go so he swam off to the land. Thinking it was a fine idea because the king whale wanted to go there.
He swam as fast as he could. A couple days later he reached the land, it took him some time because he swam all the way to New Zealand. New Zealand is a country filled with lovely, caring people. So Wilson was very lucky. For he did not know what was about to happen. He went in close to the shore he soon saw some of the lovely people having some kai on the beach. A family like his pod use to be, he liked the look of that. He had never ever seen humans and they looked beautiful walking up on their two feet, he wanted to get closer. He had to get closer. But not to close! NO Wilson stop. Right on the shore stuck in the shallow water, he stopped.
The sand sucking him in like a vacuum cleaner cleaning the floor. Beached. His back ached, the roaring sun and the salty air made it sting madly. He had made it to the land just like the king wanted to but now he had no way of get back out to sea. Or did he?? The humans had now seen poor Wilson and ran to help. They poured bucket loads of water on his back, cooling his whole body down. Before pushing him out to sea again they quickly dug out the sand below Wilson. He was so thankful and happy he could now swim again so he swam all around the world treasurering his beautiful body. Where would his next stop be?? We will never know. So next time you are at the beach kept an eye out for Wilson.
The New Girl
It was a bright, frosty morning. The pavement glistened like a carpet of crushed diamonds in the early morning sunshine. Mary was walking to the bus. She remembered yesterday that her teacher said there was going to be a new student coming to her school today and she was happy to hopefully have a new friend. The engine of the old bus moaned as it pulled over and the tyres screeched as it stop right in front of Mary. She stepped up and walked inside the old bus with her backpack on her back. Inside the bus there were many school kids ready for school. A range of different kids like a party mix filled with different lollies.
Mary blue eyes circled the bus until she meet eyes with the meanest, roughest boy in the school Louis. Beside him stood his partner in crime, Harry. Harry and Louis saw that there seats had been taken by a small, shy girl. She had brown curly hair hanging softly on her shoulders and dark hazel eyes staring at the ground. Today was her first day. She was the new girl, Clara. She had no idea what was about to happen and the fury building in the boys. The two tempered boys walked furiously to Clara and began to yell. The two boys had the eyes of the whole bus all looking deep into their cold hearts. They yelled and yelled. Clara began to cry and fat tears fell down her face.
Mary looked deep into her eyes a she could see the sadness and the pain the boys were giving her. Clara tucked up into a ball not wanting the kids in the bus to see her. She was having a really bad day. Mary hair stood on end, a shiver raced down her spine and a lump came to her throat. Her blue eyes widened. She threw up both hands and open her mouth. “Now hold on a minute. Isn't it strange that she was sitting their first and you come to make her move!” The boys had heard Mary and were very surprised. They had been at the same school to get since they were five but they had never seen this part of her. They were scared of this part of her. The whole bus follow Mary and all stuck up for the new girl Clara.
Clara untucked from her ball and now had stopped crying. The bus driver Mr Wilson walked in the bus now and ducked in head under the bus door. He read the body language of the kids in the bus and he had a feeling something was up. He saw the red blotchy eyes Clara wore on her face. He saw the boys angrily standing with their arms crossed. Mr Wilson moved the boys up to the front. Mary sat down beside Clara. They sat in silence listening to each heart beating and the wheels on the bus rotating around and around. Then they both turn heads and looked at each other and smiled. That is when they knew they were going to be best friends forever and that is exactly what they did.
