What is Photosyntheisis

Photosynthesis is the process of a plant making there own food. To make there own food they need water, sun light ,nutrients and soil. Plants have tubes called Xylem through which the  water comes from the ground to the roots. Which then goes though the tree. Just like blood flowing around your body right now. Leaves on the plants have pones they do the change of gases. The carbon dioxide in the air go into the plant though the pones. Oxygen also come out of the pones so human can breath it in.The carbon dioxide meets up with the water and the sunlight which in an equation look like:
Carbon Dioxide + Water = Glucose + Oxygen

Glucose is used by the plant the help there growth. The plant use some of it and then store the leaves and the roots. To use when there is no sunlight.

She’s Delivering Wedding Flowers To The Elderly
It all started one day while she was caring for wildflowers outside of a hospice and saw a young mother through a window. Chamberlain bundled up a quick bouquet and handed it off to a nurse, asking that she take it to the woman to let her know someone was thinking of her. She is so lovely. I wonder if she has moved another floral designer to do the same? There was no words that I found tricky in the article. I got my info from http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

Aeroview

On Tuesday this week me and the Year 7 and 8 Garden to Table Technology group from Ngatea Primary School went to Aeroview. We talked to a guy named Paul Green who is an expert in gardening. We talk a lot about compost and how for the best compost we need a combination of  kitchen compost (a mixture of some or all of the following ingredients: vegetable peels and seeds egg shells fruit peels and seeds nut shells coffee grounds any other vegetable or fruit scraps) and garden compost a mixture of some or all of the following ingredients: hay or straw wood chips grass clippings weeds and other garden waste leaves manure ashes shredded paper sawdust. We also so learn many different ways to compost there is so many like....

  • Hot compost takes 18 days. First you build a compost heap, then leave it for 4 days – no turning and then turn every 2nd day for 14 days. It is really interesting because unlike a cold compost the volume  of the hot compost stays the same.

  •  Cold compost  takes 6 mouths. First you build a compost heap, then leave it until it is an fine soil like dirt. It is really interesting because unlike a hot compost the volume reduces.
We also learn some stuff about sowing seeds and how it is so imported to make you do not over water the seeds or else they we get a thing that make them rot and die.The general rule for planting seeds is that they should be planted two times as deep as the seed and  plant two seeds just in case one does not grow. I made presentation to show more of a method to  sowing seeds.

I feed The Homeless

Imagine if you feed the homeless. Imagine go up to a restaurant and asking for leftovers for the homeless. I would be very scary ,wouldn't it. Well one woman does it all the time. IT all started a couple of years ago when she had the courage to ask a fried chicken restaurant for their unsold food. She is so lovely. I wonder who inspired her? Happy Free Breakfast

A waitress father had been save my fire fighters. She return the favour by doing something really nice. Instead of a bill for breakfast she wrote a thank you note. It said:

Your breakfast is on me today. Thank you for all that you do; for serving others and for running into the place everyone else runs away from. No matter your role, you are courageous, brave and strong... Thank you for being bold and bad ass everyday! Fuelled by fire and driven by courage- what an example you are.

If someone gave me a note like that I would feel on top of the world and so proud of what I do. The firefighter posted it on facebook urging people to go eat there. HE soon found out that the waitress had a GoFundMe page, which she was using to try and raise $17,000 to buy her father a wheelchair accessible van. He posted again and then 1,000 people donated  and she got $50,000 more than her goal.  personally I think this is a awesome thing to do and it is very inspirational. I love the way she did something awesome and he did something nice back. There was no words that I found tricky in the article. I wonder what they have done with the extra money?  I got my info from http://www.goodnewsnetwork.org

Floating and Sinking

At school today we are learning about floating and sinking. What we did was put an orange in the water and then put a peeled orange in it. What happen was the the orange with the skin on floated and the peeled orange sank. It happen because of the density of the object and how much volume it has to store air. With the orange with the skin on had more  density and the skin was like an life jacket for the orange. With the orange without the skin on had the same density as the other orange put the water filled up where the air was. Therefore it sank.
I think the unpeeled orange had less density than the water. What do you think? Experimenting with density

My Wonder For the Week

Why do leaves change colour in Autumn?
In Autumn the leaves change colour but why?  This is because in Autumn the days are shorter which means the leaves can not make the chlorophyll which is what makes leaves green. So they turn orange.Image result for autumn leaves
