A Boy Fighting Cancer Had A Visit By Three Avengers
Teen Ryan Wilcox has been at home for several months due to cancer treatments. One day he heard a knocking at the door and guess who it was It was his own personal “Avengers”.  He was stunned to answer his door and see “Iron Man” Robert Downey, “Captain America” Chris Evans, and Gwyneth Paltrow “Pepper” waiting on the front steps.  I think this is so cool and inspiring. I would love to get a visit by the superhero we all watch and love. I wonder how many people have been to visit Ryan? There were no words that I found tricky in the article. IE: Talking To Schools

I have been for the last term researching all about global warming. I know that it is something that we all need to know about and the most important people that need to know are the kids (the future generation) because we are the people that will need to fix it. I have made a poster and I would love you check it out and shared it with your family, friends and workmates. The poster is all about how you can do your bit to help stop global warming. I have also emailed 10 schools from around the Thames Valley and Waikato about 30 minutes ago. A few have replied back with some lovely comments that I thought would be cool to share with you below the comments is my poster. I am soooooo happy.

Hi Morgan, Thank you for your email. You have put in a huge effort and produced a fantastic poster. Well done. I will most certainly share it with my staff and students. Once again congratulations and keep up the fine work. Kind regards

Hi Morgan, Thanks for this Poster. I really like the ideas you have suggested. I will share it with my class and hopefully we can make a difference. Thanks, Mr Mills

Hi Morgan, Thanks for your email. I was really interested to hear about IE and the fact that you follow an individual inquiry along whatever lines you are interested in. Global warming is a subject which the future generation should be informed about and thank you for sharing your poster with us. Good luck with your inquiry. Kind regards

Hi Morgan, We enjoyed looking at your poster. It is always good to remind ourselves how we can reduce our impact on spaces around us. Last year, our school did a unit called 'Ecological Sustainability' and it helped us learn about how much humans pollute the world. You are right that kids can make a big difference in the future to help reverse some of the terrible things people have done to the environment. Thanks for sharing your poster and good luck for the rest of your IE. Room 12 at Te Totara Primary School

Hi Morgan Thank you for your email. How wonderful it is to see students thinking and talking about such an important topic. I have shared your email with some of our teachers and will encourage them to speak with their students about it. Keep working hard, being a responsible learner. Thank you once again for the information. Kirsten Ratana

Goal: I Organise Myself To Be Ready To Learning And Know When I Need To Take A Break

This weeks goal was to organise myself to be ready to learning and know when I needed to take a break. I set goals from that goal to help me in my learning: I am going to drink 5 cups of water each day to kept my brain ready and hydrated. I am also going to go to bed each night at 8.00 and read till 8.30. I want to take more brain breaks to help me to contract at least 3 times a day.  I think I have definitely achieved these goals because I have been working really hard on them and I have been happy and healthily. I feel in the morning now I am ready for school. I have been taking more brain breaks but I would like to get better and takeing them more often.  I have been drinking heaps and I can see the little improvements like how my lips are not dry and I have had a hydrated brain.

The Winner Of A Huge Wave Competition

John John Florence a young surfer has been crowned the world's best big wave rider after his awesome win at the Eddie Aikau surf contest.  The contest is all about big waves and has been held nine times since 1987. It is only held when the waves in Hawaii are big enough (10 – 12 metres high).  At 23 John John Florence is one of the youngest competitors ever to take the prize.  He has won a lot of money $120,000 dollars. The competition Eddie Aikau is named after Eddie Aikau the well known lifeguard and surfer in Hawaii. He had saved over 500 people's lives before he was lost at sea in 1978. Aikau joined a voyage as a crew member on a ship. However, the ship developed a leak in one of the hulls and later capsized about 19 km south of the island of Molokai. Aikau paddled toward help on his surfboard. Although the rest of the crew was later rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard. Aikau was never seen again lost at sea.  As a memorial, the Eddie Aikau surf competition was started.  I think that this young surfer is very lucky and has deserved the win. I also think that the competition is great to inspire the young and challenge the old to surf and Eddie Aikau would be proud. I wonder who won the Eddie Aikau surf contest last time they did it and how if that person score was worse or better than John John Florence? There were no words that I found tricky in the article. IE- How Does Scientist Message Global Warming

I am learning about global warming and I have found out how global warming is measured. I have been talking to a man called Tim Barnett he is a scientist. He said that scientist uses many instruments to measure the temperature which gives them an understanding of global warming. They use thermometers on ships, land stations and balloons that measure air temperature. All the measurements from different places and temperature get sent back to a there office and there it gets averages. Averaging is done by adding up all the data from the different measuring instruments and dividing that by the number of instruments. They use the heat of different dates and to work out the changes. I think that it is cool that they do average and I think it is quite funny because I do averaging things in my AWS book. But their averaging is a lot bigger and more import.

IE- Sea Level Rising

I am learning about global warming and I have found out that the global ocean levels have risen about 19 centimeters in the last century. The ocean rises 1.7 millimeters per year. Since 1993 the average rate has nearly doubled. It is almost at the stage to be about 3.2 millimeters per year. Which will kept rising (it is speeding up as the years past).
